I’ve been seeing more and more bikers not being served at drive up windows. This seems to be especially popular at Wendy’s. Here’ s kind of how it goes… Ride up to Wendy’s order station on sportster, turn off engine and take off helmet so I can hear, order my food and go to the pay window.

Once there, I am told in no un-certain terms that I would have to go inside to get my food because they don’t serve walk up guests at the drive up window. To add insult to injury, they treat me  as though I slapped them in the face by even trying.

While I can understand not wanting to serve pedestrians, and even bicyclists. But to not want to serve me because I’m on a motorcycle?

I think the next time it happens, IF I go back there again, I will start screaming discrimination and lawyers and see if I can’t get a free frosty out of it.

Helmet Laws Still Suck!

by Matt on December 5, 2007

I’m a fairly level-headed guy in my own right. Sometimes I have a hard time deciding who does better work; God or Darwin, but they both do their fair share. And to be honest, I can’t say one is better at what they do than the other. Just like I can’t say for sure which is more important to the Sportster crowd; that they’re riding or that they’re riding a Sporty. There’s a difference, but that’s a story for another post. I sometimes hear people discussing motorcycle safety training. Most often I hear things like “My wife is bugging me to ride, should I get her safety training?” My first reaction to this kind of question is NOOOO!!!!!! Don’t let her start riding. You’ll have to pay for two of everything!

Then I settle down and respond with the usual “You’d be stupid NOT to get her training.”

(Believe it or not, I’ve only been punched in the nose twice for insinuating that a biker was stupid in this type of situation.)

Once in a while I hear experienced bikers talking about taking the course to get discounts for insurance or other things. My first reaction here is Why? You already know how to start, stop, turn, and find that shift-lever thingy that you’ll probably never use anyway, what’s the point?

Instead of a beginner course, take an advanced course so you can actually learn something and have some fun at the same time. It may be more expensive, but the payout is well worth it, and it may pay for itself in discounts.
